JOPLIN, Mo. - Missouri Southern scored 9 runs in the bottom of the first to top a three run first inning by the Jets to cruise to an eventual 14-4 victory. The Lions capitalized off 9 walks given us by the Jets.

The No. 17 Lions cooled off a hot Jets lineup after giving up three runs in the 1st inning. Jenner Steel hit his 14th home run of the season. Zack. Stewart hit his 13th of the season 2 batters leader. Jason Schneider singled after Jenner and Zack Stewart hit a 1-0 home run over the left field wall to give NU an early 3-0 lead.

The Jets wouldn't score again until the 7th. Steele earned his 2nd RBI of the game with a single down right field that scored Kellan Landstad.

Missouri Southern scored one run in the 5th and two in the 6th to make it 14-3 heading into the 7th inning.

Anthony Ferrante went 1-2 at the plate with a double. Blake Mitchell finished 1-1 with a pinch hit.

The loss moves Newman to 2-5 all time vs Missouri Southern. They'll be back in action tomorrow at one o'clock.
