LAST TIME OUT
Newman hosted SWOSU on Tuesday for their second and third matchup of the season. The Jets lost a heartbreaker in the first game, 3-4. In the second game, the Jets were able to rally back and take the game 6-5. Jackie Gold pitched a complete game and took her 6th win of the season. Anissa Ramos went 3-3 from the plate with 1 RBI and Gianna De Luca-Paape went 2-3 from the plate with 1 RBI. 
 

MEET YOUR COACHES
Andrea Gustafson is in her 4th year as the Head Women's Softball Coach. Her 2022 campaign led the Jets to a 18-30 overall record with a 9-17 conference record.

Susan Anderson is in her 17th season as head coach for Central Missouri. Anderson has a 470-355 record and was the fastest UCM softball coach to reach 100 wins in 3 seasons. 

Jason Ollison is in his first season as head coach for the Tigers. 
 

THE JETS
Newman is currently 11-25 overall, 1-7 in conference. The Jets are looking for their second conference win of the season after a tough conference schedule to begin the season. The Jets have faced two ranked opponents, Washburn and UCO, out of their 4 conference opponents so far. The Jets took their 1st conference win against Missouri Western, 8-7. 


SCOUTING THE ENEMIES
Central Missouri is currently 24-13 and 8-6 in conference. In their last conference matchup they faced Lincoln and swept the series. The Mules won 14-3 in game one and 10-0 in game 2. The Jennies as a team are hitting .304 and .806 OPS. The Jennies defense has been solid with .966 fielding percentage as a team. 

Lincoln is currently 4-26 and 1-13 in conference. Lincoln faced Central Missouri last time out and dropped both. The Tigers last conference win was March 14th vs. Missouri Southern. The Tigers are currently on a 13 game losing streak.  The Tigers are hitting .215 as a team and .562 OPS. The Tigers are fielding percentage is .945. 


HOT HITTERS
Navarro continues to lead the Jets in batting average with .393, through 8 conference games. Navarro has had 28 at bats with 11 hits and 3 RBIS. Navarro currently has a .914 OPS. 

Samantha Gutierrez is the Jets second leading hitter through the first 8 games of conference play. Gutierrez has a .308 batting average and .718 OPS. Gutierrez has had 13 at bats with 4 hits and 2 RBIs. 


A DEFENSE UNITED
Through 36 games, the Jets defensive numbers continue to improve. The Jets record a .958 fielding % compared to their opponents fielding %, .947. 7 Jets remain perfect with a 1.000 fielding %. 

De Luca-Paape leads the starting infield with a .990 fielding % with only 3 errors on the season with 299 chances. 

Gutierrez has been a huge piece for the Jets defense with a .974 fielding %. Gutierrez thrown out 11 runners so far this season and has been a wall behind the plate, only allowing 10 passed balls through 30 games. 

IN THE CIRCLE
Jackie Gold continues to lead the Jets in pitching with 6 wins on the season. Gold has recorded 79.1 innings pitched with an ERA of 5.03.
