WICHITA – Head Women's Basketball Coach, Amy Briggs, completed her coaching staff for 2023-24 with addition of Newman alumna, Michaela Mack, on August 10^th.

Briggs enters year one leading the Jets. After finishing her 2023 recruiting class, Briggs turned her focus to who will help mold the student-athletes on and off the floor. She did not look too far as she returns Graduate Assistant Daphne Williams to her same role and adds former NU Women's Basketball player Michaela Mack as her assistant coach.

The 2020 Newman alumna joins Coach Briggs in her first season at the helm of the Women's Basketball program. Mack was a two-year member of the Jets during the transition to the MIAA.

When asked of Michaela's value on staff, Briggs said, "It is so exciting to bring her back to Newman! Being an alum, she understands the Newman values & what it takes to compete in the MIAA. Her passion for Newman & building relationships with our players aligns with the family culture we plan to build!"

Mack joins the Jets after spending two seasons at Crowder College as an assistant coach. The Edmond, Oklahoma native began her collegiate playing days as a Roughrider in 2016. While at Crowder, she was named Region 16 Player of the Week and 2^nd Team All-Region 16.  Mack was a true student-athlete garnering 1^st Team Academic All-American (2016-17) and 3^rd Team Academic All-American Honors (2017-18) and was a part of the 2016-2017 NJCAA Academic Honorable Mention Team with a 3.35 team GPA.

Coach Briggs will retain Graduate Assistant Daphne Williams. Williams will be in her second year on the NU staff. After graduating from Washburn in 2022, Williams made the trip south to Wichita to join the NU Women's Basketball program. The squad is fresh off a 2023 MIAA Tournament Appearance. The Halstead native spent the spring semester as the Graduate Assistant for Communications in the Spring of 2023 following the postseason trip to KC.
