9/3/2023 6:43:00 PM

Box Score WICHITA - The Jets picked up their first win of the season with an emphatic victory over Rockhurst. Carlos Bellosta Manchon played a huge role in the victory, but it was a true team effort from start to finish that saw the Jets through to the end.

Strong possession from the Jets helped them stay in control for the majority of the match, but Rockhurst was hard to crack down on, playing strong defense. The Hawks are coached by Tony Tocco, who has been the head coach for over 50 years. Tocco's system worked for most of the first half, but the Jets were about to open the game wide open.

Carlos Bellosta Manchon scored his first goal of the season at the 40th minute, which the gave the Jets the lead for the first time this season. Manchon wasn't done for the game, as he would have more in store in the second half. Alberto Romano provided the assist, who also would show up in a big way.

Rockhurst equalized off a set piece early in the second half, but the Jets were about to soar the rest of the half.

Bellosta Manchon scored his second goal off a tap in, giving the Newman captain a brace. Romano also provided another assist, with Felix Tellez Ramierez also being marked as having an assist.

The game was put well out of reach for the Hawks when Bellosta Manchon's belter from nearly 25 years out hit the back of the net. The last time a Newman player scored three goals in a game was Ed Jabbari in 2018 against, ironically almost five years to the day

The victory was Victor Domingues first win as head coach at Newman, already equaling the number of wins the men had last season.

The Jets will be at home for their next game, taking on Colorado Christian on Thursday. The Jets will then be away for their next three games, taking on Quincy, Southwest Baptist, and Fort Hays State.
