New Beginnings
Jets Baseball begins a new season with nine games in Oklahoma to open the campaign. Three of the four opponents from the opening slate of the season played Newman last year.

Familiar Foes
Newman opened their season at Southern Nazarene last season, as they won the series 2-1. This will be the third straight season that the two ball clubs will have played each other in the first series of the season.

The Jets also faced off with the Rangers and Savage Storm last year.

This will be the first time that Newman will have played SWOSU since moving to the MIAA. The two were supposed to meet in the opening series of 2021, but was canceled.

GACtion?
All four clubs the Jets will go up against are in the Great American Conference.

Last Time Out
After upsetting Missouri Southern in game 2 of the first round of the MIAA tournament, the Jets were tied 1-1 in a best of three series against the Lions.

A Jack Kiser homer tied the game in the top of the third, but the Lions would score eight runs before Newman could respond. The Jets would get three runs back in the eighth, but the Lions saw out the rest of the game for an 8-4 victory to move on to the second round.

Newman qualified for the MIAA tournament for the first time since joining the conference, and while it was a crushing end to the season, the team battled with one of the nation's best teams and nearly advanced to the semifinals.
Recap | Box Score

Meet Your Coaches
Drew Maus enters his fifth season at the helm of the Baseball program. Leading Newman to their first ever MIAA tournament appearance, Maus and his team are poised to make it back for a second straight season.

Ryan Morrissey returns for another year as an assistant coach, while Caleb Carr becomes the newest edition to the Jets Baseball staff.

The Enemy Dugouts
Southern Nazarene is coming off a 15-35 campaign, in a season that saw them pick up only 6 wins in the GAC last season. They ended the season on a seven-game losing streak.

Northwestern Oklahoma State had a similar record to the Jets last season, with a 22-27 season. They missed out on the GAC tournament by a couple games.

The Savage Storm of Southeastern Oklahoma State went 28-25 and made the GAC post season tournament, where they fell to Southern Arkansas in the first round.

Southwestern Oklahoma State also missed out on the GAC tournament by several games, going 22-27 last year.

At The Plate
While the Jets lost some of their firepower from last season, they return several key pieces for this season. Jason Schnieder returns after batting .340 last year, while having 66 hits, 6 home runs and 35 RBI's.
Jack Kiser and Eli Wohl are the other top returns. Kiser had 22 RBI's, while Wohl had the fifth best batting average on the team.

On The Mound
With the top three starters gone, the Jets have a multitude of options to choose from. Fourteen pitchers from last year's roster return in what looks to be a deep bullpen.

Colby Wilson, who pitched in 51.1 innings last season, is the top returner for the pitching core. Appearing in 18 games, including two in the Jets MIAA Tournament debut against Missouri Southern, he will most likely be the Jets most common starter at Pitcher.

Other notable pitchers to return are Andrew Prieve, Jaret Granger and Jared Newton, who all saw plenty of action as relievers last season.

What's Next?
The Jets will have their home opener against Concordia St. Paul in two weeks for a three game series. Conference play will then begin at home as Newman is set to host Rogers State in the first MIAA series of the season.
