Russellville, Ark.- The Great American Conference announced its player of the week awards for Men's Soccer.
Alberto Romano earned Offensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season.
In the first game of the weekend, Romano led the Jets to a 4-1 win against Ouachita Baptist, after completing a hat trick. His first goal came in the 36th minute after a Jet was fouled in the box, earning a penalty kick. Romano stepped up to the spot and nailed the PK. His second goal came in the second half, after the Jets earned another penalty kick. Then, in the 82nd minute Romano found the back of the net after being assisted by
Tomas Melon. With these three goals, Romano broke the Jets record for most goals in a season. On Saturday,
Gustavo Dias Juliani found Romano in the box where Romano then bicycle kicked the ball past the goalie to With this goal, Romano broke the Jets record for most points in a season (25).
Romano leads the Great American Conference with 49 shots and 25 shots on goal. He is second in goals (12) and points (25). The Jets have four regular season games left to play.
