Softball to host Friends for first home double header

Games 8 and 9

WICHITA. - Softball will play Friends tomorrow in their first home double header of the season. The location of the games has been changed, with the Jets and Falcons playing at Two Rivers Youth Softball complex. The address for TRYC is at 1700 N Ridge Rd. 

 

The Jets are on a three game winning streak and carry a 5-2 overall record which is the best start of a season in program history.

 

Hayley Bonython leads the team's offense with a .476 hitting average, ten RBIs, and two home runs.  

 

Senior pitcher Jackie Gold leads Newman's defense with a 2.02 ERA and 3 wins.

 

Redshirt Sophomore Kinyon DeCorte is also helping the Jets defense with two wins out of the the three games she's pitched, and only allowing four total hits in the games she's won.  

 

The Falcons come to this matchup with a 3-1 record, a .288 team hitting average and a total of two home runs. 

 

Last year, Friends was second in the NAIA for home runs (forty eight) and RBIs (three hundred and thirty eight). 

 

Two returners that were a big part in the Falcons success were Senior catcher Carolyn Dallimore who totaled fifteen home runs, and a team leading .457 hitting average and fifty eight RBIs and senior Laila Spracklen who had fifty RBIs, seven home runs, and also led the team's defense returns pitching a 2.10 ERA. 

 

The Jets will travel to Oklahoma next week to face Southern Nazarene in their next double header.
