Last Time Out
The Jets traveled to Oklahoma to take on a Southern Nazarene squad that is receiving votes in this week's national rankings. The Jets, also earning votes for the Top 25, battled the Crimson Storm to a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes of play. The first half was evenly contested. The Jets took three shots while Southern Nazarene recorded four. SNU managed one shot on goal, but Newman goalkeeper
Francisco Pinochet came up with the save to keep the match scoreless. Both teams earned one corner kick in the half but were unable to capitalize.
Yohsuke Ono recorded two of the Jets' three shots in the opening period, and the teams entered halftime locked at 0-0. The Jets struck first after the break. In the 61st minute,
Gabriel Dias Juliani found the back of the net to give Newman a 1-0 lead. The Jets' defense held strong for much of the second half, but in the 89th minute, SNU's Junior Duran scored the equalizer, tying the match at 1-1. Neither team could break the deadlock in the closing moments.

On Saturday, the Jets faced the nation's 8th-ranked team but came up short, falling 3-1. Neither side managed to score until the 28th minute, when Rogers State broke through to take a 1-0 lead. The Hillcats doubled their advantage 12 minutes later on a penalty kick. The Jets'
Gabriel Dias Juliani had a chance to cut into the deficit late in the first half, but his shot was stopped by the Hillcat goalkeeper. Rogers State added another goal just six minutes into the second half to go up 3-0. The Jets responded moments later as
Gregoire Henri found the net, trimming the deficit to two.
Daiki Okada nearly pulled Newman closer with a shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the Hillcat keeper made another save. Both teams created chances in the closing minutes, but the score remained 3-1 at the final whistle.
Scouting the JetsÂ
Entering week five of play,
Gabriel Dias Juliani ranks second in the GAC in goals (7), game-winning goals (3), and total points (16). He also sits fourth in shots on goal (9) and total shots (23).
Gustavo Dias Juliani leads the Jets in assists with six, followed by
Eduardo Dos Santos and Okada, who each have five. Dos Santos, Okada, and
Yohsuke Ono are tied for second on the team in total points, each with seven.
On the defensive end,
Francisco Pinochet has appeared in eight games, recording 35 saves and three wins. The Jets currently rank second in the GAC in points (65), goals (20), and assists (25), and lead the conference in saves (44). The Jets will celebrate 18 seniors before Saturday's match.Â
Behind Enemy Lines
The Jets will first host Ouachita Baptist, as the Tigers enter the week with a 1-5-2 record and are still in search of their first conference win. OBU played just one match last week, hosting Northeastern State, where the RiverHawks earned a 4-0 victory. Five Tigers are tied for the team lead with one goal each, while Andrew Castellanos, one of the five goal scorers also leads the team with one assist.
Harding enters the week with a 2-6-1 record and an 0-3 mark in conference play. The Bison also hosted Northeastern State in their lone match last week, falling 1-0 on a goal in the 83rd minute. Nojuis Grudis leads the team with four goals and eight points, while six different Bison are tied for the team lead with one assist apiece.
The Series
The Jets have a 5-4-2 record against Ouachita Baptist. The last meeting was in October of last year in a match the Jets won 4-1 at Wilkins Field.
Against Harding, The Jets hold a 4-5-2 record. The Jets have taken the last two meetings between the teams, the most recent being a home match that the Jets won 4-2.Â
