Last Time Out
On Friday, Women's Soccer traveled to Missouri to take on Missouri Western State, a squad receiving votes for the Top 25 in the national poll. Against the Griffons, the Jets fell short 3-0. The Griffons scored in the 15th minute to put the first point on the board and take a 1-0 lead over the Jets. MoWest added another goal in the 19th minute to extend their lead to 2-0. In the 43rd minute, Camrin Peaslee found the back of the net to push the Griffons lead to 3-0. Heading into the break, the Jets trailed 3-0. In the half, the Griffons out shot the Jets 10-2.
Maylani Birckbichler had a look on goal in the 75th minute, but the Griffons goalkeeper made a play on the ball to keep the Jets off the board.
Emma Lintecum subbed in for the Jets in the second half and made three saves, keeping the Griffons scoreless after the break.
The Jets wrapped up their weekend on Sunday at Northwest Missouri in a game the Bearcats won, 3-0. The Bearcats opened the scoring in the 24th minute with a goal by Makenna West, which remained the only goal of the first half. This gave the Bearcats a 1-0 lead heading into the half. The Jets managed two shots in the first half, one of them on target. Early in the second half, the Bearcats doubled their lead with a goal in the 48th minute, then extended it to 3-0 in the 58th minute with a strike from Lillie Shaw. Newman created a few offensive opportunities late in the match.
Ariana Sweitzer fired a shot high in the 80th minute, followed by an on-target attempt from
Maylani Birckbichler in the 88th that was saved. Keillann Heath had a promising shot in the 89th minute, but it too was stopped by the Bearcats goalkeeper. Newman tallied three shots in the second half, forcing two saves by the Bearcats but could not connect. The Jets would fall short 3-0.
Scouting the Jets
Delphine Sosu leads the Jets with 5 goals and 11 points in nine matches played. She currently ranks fourth in the MIAA in goals and third in both shots and shots on goal.
Morgan Todd has chipped in as the team's top distributor, ranking fifth in the conference with three assists.
Emma Kolbe follows Sosu with three goals, while
Trinity Perry,
Abbey Gatesman, and
Katherine Wilson have each added a goal this season. In goal,
Carla Apodaca leads the Jets' keepers with 50 saves.
Behind Enemy Lines
The Jets will travel to play Nebraska Kearney on Friday. The Lopers enter the matchup with a 2-4-3 record, including a 0-1-3 mark in MIAA play. Last week, the Lopers dropped their first match against Washburn, 3-0, before earning a draw with Central Missouri. Daniella Iaquinta leads the Lopers with two goals and is tied for the team lead with four points. Billie Forrest, who is also tied for the team lead in points, leads the squad with two assists.
Fort Hays State will travel to Wichita for Sunday's matchup, coming into the week with a 2-6-1 record. The Tigers faced off with Central Missouri and Emporia State last week, dropping both road matches. Sydney Cotter leads the Tigers in goals (6), points (15), and assists (3). In goal, the Tigers rely on Hadley Ostrander, who has recorded 30 saves and two wins on the season.

The Jets lead the all-time series against the Lopers, 4–3–1, but the Lopers won last year's matchup, 3–2.
