Last Time Out
The Jets kicked off a crucial weekend of conference play with the Harding Bison. The Jets offense came out aggressive, finding two shots on goal in the first nine minutes of play. Reuben Kester forced an early save by the Bison goalkeeper, in the first minute. Later, Gregoire Henri would find a look on goal, but could not connect. The Jets were able to net the first goal of the game in the 18th minute. Tomas Melon found Henri who put the ball in the back of the net to take the 1-0 lead. This goal would be the only goal of the half. In the first 45 minutes of play, Newman outshot the Bison 14-4, totaling four corners and forcing four saves by the Bison goalkeeper. Out of the half, in the 57th minute the Bison connected with the equalizer. The goal by Mason Hahn tied the game at 1-1. The Bison would later then take the lead at 2-1 with a goal by Reik Barrack. A huge goal by Tomas Melon in the 80th minute tied the game back at 2-2. Melon was assisted by Henri and Eduardo Dos Santos. Just two minutes later, Jonathan Garcia booted the ball past the Bison goalkeeper to regain the lead at 3-2. The Jets would hold the lead at 3-2 for the remainder of the half. Newman would defeat the Bison, 3-2.
The Jets finished up their Arkansas road trip against Ouachita Baptist. Last time out against the Tigers, the Jets defeated OBU 1-0. Newman and Ouachita Baptist found themselves at an even 0-0 at the half. In the first 45 minutes of play, the Jets outshot the Tigers 7-2. The Jets forced the OBU goalkeeper into one save in the half. The Jets earned four corners in the half, to the Tigers one corner. Gregoire Henri was credited with the Jets shot on goal in the first half. Out of the halftime break, the Tigers broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute with a goal by Phillip Bolk. Bolk was assisted by Andrew Castellanos and Hunter Reck. Henri and Yohsuke Ono had shots in the 73rd minute, but neither could connect with the back of the net. The Jets were unable to find the equalizer and would fall short, 1-0.
Scouting the Jets
The Jets currently sit at 4-3-3 in GAC play, placing them third in the standings heading into the final weeks of the season. Gabriel Dias Julianni leads the team in goals (7), points (17), and shots on goal (13). Eduardo Dos Santos leads the team with 8 assists. Gregoire Henri and Yohsuke Ono have also been consistent scoring threats, tallying five and three goals respectively. Henri has recorded four goals and 10 points in GAC play to lead the Jets. Cameron Schroder, Tomas Melon, and Reuben Kester have each recorded two goals throughout the season. In goal, Francisco Pinochet has started in all but one match, posting a 6-4-5 record while turning away 57 shots.
Behind Enemy Lines
Fort Hays enters the week ranked 5th in the national poll, coming into the week with a record of 14-0-3. The Tigers went 2-0 in last week's matches, besting Ouachita Baptist and Harding. Elias Ovelar Semeniu leads the Tigers in goals (11) and points (25). Juan Linares sits in second with 7 goals and holds a tie with Bastian Carlman with 18 points. Payton Roehrich mans the goal, starting every match and recording 36 saves.
The Riverhawks sit at 8-6-2 entering the final week of the regular season and are set to play Rogers State before welcoming the Jets on Saturday. NSU played one match last week, falling to SNU 4-1. Carter Adams leads the team with 9 goals and 21 points. Four Riverhawks are tied for second place with three goals apiece. Adams also leads with three assists. Cameron McColloch has manned the goal for the Riverhakws, recording 46 saves and an 8-5-2 record in goal.
The Series
The Tigers lead the series against the Jets, having won 13 of their 15 meetings. The Jets' last victory came in October 2022, when Carlos Bellosta Manchon netted the match's lone goal to give them a win over the 15th-ranked Tigers.
The Jets sit at 4-12-2 against the Riverhawks, winning the first meeting earlier this season 4-2.
