Last Time Out

The Jets dropped two match-ups at home last weekend to Nebraska-Kearney and nationally ranked Fort Hays. Newman first hosted the Lopers in a game where The Jets never caught their stride, dropping the game 69-42. Jaeden McMillin led the Jets with 14 points.

On Saturday,  The Jets faced off with the nation's No. 7 team, Fort Hays. Coming into the game the Tigers were riding an 8 game winning streak. The Jets were able to hold the Tigers to 28% shooting from beyond the arc, but Fort Hays overcame this, securing Saturday's win. 

Scouting the Jets 
Through 25  games, the Jets averaged 56.6 points per game, shooting 34% from the field, and 29% from behind the arc. The Jets are currently averaging 10.6 assists per game. McMillin leads all Jet scorers with averaging 12 points per game. Paige Craft is averaging just over eight points per game. McMillin also leads the Jets in rebounds and steals. Paige Craft leads the Jets in assists with 54 on the year. Senior Hayley Hughes will be the lone honoree during the Senior Day festivities. Hughes is shooting 52% from the field this season.

Behind Enemy Lines
The Hornets are currently 9-16, 4-12 in conference. The Hornets got swept last weekend, falling to Fort Hays and Nebraska-Kearney. As a unit, Emporia State averages just over 68 points per game while allowing opponents to score 73.8 points. The Hornets shoot 31% from behind the arc. Katie Horyna leads Emporia State in scoring, averaging 14 points per game. Gracie Gilpin comes in right behind Horyna, averaging 12 points per game. Gilpin shoots 36% from behind the arc. Janiyah Alvarez leads the hornets in rebounding, pulling in six rebounds per game. The Hornets will close out the regular season facing off with Missouri Western and Northwest Missouri. 

The Series
-The Hornets lead the series being 11-6 against the Jets. The most recent contest this season went to the Jets, 74-59. Layla Pierce and Jaeden McMillin both scored 17 points. This matchup is the MIAA game of the week and will be featured on 38 The Spot as well as the MIAA network.

The Jets will travel to face Northwest Missouri and Fort Hays to close out the regular season.
