Last Time Out

Last weekend the Jets dropped four games in Springfield. In the opener, Maddie Rae Romo struck out seven batters. Reghann Fairbairn and Kayla Lopez both doubled, but Parkside squeaked out a win, 9-8. The Jets dropped both games against Minnesota Duluth. In the weekend finale against Minnesota State Moorhead, Romo pitched all seven innings, striking out six. Hannah Nordby and Gianna Navarro both doubled.

The Jets dropped both midweek games against Southwestern Oklahoma State, but Tori Waggoner was a bright spot, recording three hits over the two games. Romo pitched into the sixth inning, allowing three earned runs throughout the outing. Paola Zamacona came in to relieve in both of Tuesday's games, working five shutout innings and only allowing two hits.

Scouting the Jets

As a team the Jets are hitting .256 through 20 games. In the circle the Jets post a 7.16 era. AJ Borja leads the Jets offense, hitting .340 while also leading the team with seven doubles. Navarro is not far behind, with a .300 batting average and a team high 14 RBIs. Freshman Reghann Fairbairn is hitting .316 in 14 games played. Romo and Kinyon DeCorte lead the Jets in the circle. DeCorte has a team low 5.13 ERA while Romo posts a 5.32. Romo leads the Jets in strikeouts, with 23 over her 25 innings of work.

Behind Enemy Lines

This weekend saw the Lions go 3-2, dropping the last game of the weekend to Winona State, 2-1. Katie Gray leads the team in all three major categories with a .392 batting average, six home runs, and 20 RBIs. Bailey Dillon and Kylee Jacks also post batting averages well over .300. Avery Tallman and Kiki Pickens lead a Lions pitching staff that has a 2.53 team ERA.

The Gorillas are hitting .356 as a team with three players holding batting averages over .400.  Kadyn Trochim and Kyleigh Lamont are currently tied for the team lead in home runs with three. Aydenne Brown has a 2.83 ERA on the pitching side, with Ava Laurent not far behind holding a 3.42 ERA.

The Series

-The Lions lead the series against the Jets 8-2, but the Jets took the most recent matchup in April of last season.

-The Jets have a 6-26 historical record against the Gorillas, dropping both matchups last year.

Next Up

The Jets will host Southern Nazarene for a midweek doubleheader before welcoming Northeastern State and Rogers State next weekend.
