MIAA Releases 2025 Women's Soccer Presason Coaches Poll

Jets ranked 13th in presason poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo.- The MIAA announced its 2025 Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll on Friday morning, with Central Missouri earning the top spot with 132 points and four first-place votes. Central Oklahoma matched the four first-place votes but finished second with 126 points. Washburn collected the most first-place votes with five and totaled 123 points for fourth place.
Newman earned 16 points to rank 13th in the preseason poll.

Head Coach Dylan Gruntzel enters his fourth season leading the Jets, returning two All-MIAA selections, Delphine Sosu and Maylani Birckbichler. Birckbichler, an Honorable Mention honoree for the second straight year, played 927 minutes in 17 matches last season, recording one goal, eight shots on target, and two points. Sosu appeared in 14 matches, logging 973 minutes, one goal, ten shots on target, and two points.

The Jets open the 2025 season at home against William Jewell on September 4th at Wilkins Stadium before a three-game road stretch against Southwest Baptist, Southwestern Oklahoma State, and Oklahoma Christian. Newman returns home to face Northwestern Oklahoma State, followed by Senior Night against Southern Nazarene to close non-conference play. MIAA action begins September 26 at Wilkins against Emporia State.This fall, the Jets will host six conference games against Emporia State, Washburn, Fort Hays State, Pittsburg State, Central Missouri, and Missouri Southern before wrapping up the regular season at Central Oklahoma on November 5. The MIAA Conference Tournament will begin on November 9th.
