EDMOND, Okla. — Newman lost to Central Oklahoma 3-0 on Friday, falling by set scores of 24-26, 18-25, 11-25. The Jets finished with 25 kills and a .048 hitting percentage, while Central Oklahoma totaled 44 kills and hit .223.
Central Oklahoma moved from a 6-6 tie to a 12-7 lead in the opening set, using Jets attack errors, a Jenna Monroe kill and a Georgia Ahlert ace to create the first separation. NU cut the margin to 15-13 after a

Ashlyn Warburton, but Central Oklahoma answered to go back up 18-13. The Jets kept climbing back, getting a
Madalyn Hoot ace to make it 19-18, then turning a 21-19 deficit into a 23-21 lead on an
Isabella Lamb kill, a Central Oklahoma attack error, another Lamb kill and a
MaddyLynn Shumway ace. Raschen's kill put NU at set point, 24-22, but Central Oklahoma scored the final four points to take the set 26-24.
The Jets were even at 3-3 early in the second set after a Miller kill and ace, but Central Oklahoma scored the next five points to move ahead 8-3. Hoot and Warburton put down kills during a three-point NU push that cut the deficit to 8-6, and the Jets later trimmed another Central Oklahoma lead to 13-11 on consecutive attack errors.
Hannah Tymitz's kill and
MaddyLynn Shumway's ace brought NU back within 16-14, but Central Oklahoma moved back ahead 18-14 and later scored four straight to reach 22-15. The Jets got late kills from Tymitz and Miller, but Central Oklahoma closed the set 25-18 on an NU service error.
Central Oklahoma scored five of the first six points of the third set, with the Jets' early point coming on a Miller kill, before an attack error and Tymitz's kill brought NU back to 5-3. Central Oklahoma answered with points on four of the next five rallies to go up 9-4, then added a Morgan Manning ace for an 11-4 lead.
Reese Johnson served an ace to make it 11-6, but Central Oklahoma followed with four straight points, including a Jordyn Baker ace and consecutive Georgia Ahlert kills, to stretch the margin to 15-6. The Jets later got points from a
Kierny Follmer kill, an
Avery Kelley-Miller block, a Lamb kill and a Kelley kill, but Central Oklahoma closed the set on four straight points for a 25-11 final.
