Last Time Out
Newman faced Fort Hays State in a tightly contested doubleheader, splitting the series with a dramatic extra-innings win in game one before falling in a high-scoring game two. In game one, the Jets earned a 7-6 victory in nine innings after a back-and-forth battle that featured 13 team hits and multiple lead changes. AJ Borja sparked the offense with a two-run single in the first inning and later added a two-run home run in the third. The game remained tied late until Audry Rumsey delivered a clutch RBI single in the ninth, scoring Malie Noda to secure the win. In game two, Newman came up just short in a 10-8 loss despite a strong offensive effort and a late rally. The Jets jumped ahead early behind Hannah Nordby's RBI doubles and continued to trade runs with the Tigers. However, a seven-run fourth inning by Fort Hays State proved decisive. Newman responded with a four-run seventh inning, highlighted by Noda's three-RBI double, but was unable to complete the comeback.
Newman then split a home doubleheader against Nebraska Kearney, winning game one 11-7 before falling 2-0 in game two. In game one, the Jets powered their way to victory with a fast start, scoring four runs in the opening inning. Audry Rumsey led the offense with two home runs and multiple RBIs, while AJ Borja and Lani Dryden also contributed key extra-base hits. Newman held off several UNK rallies to secure the win behind a steady offensive performance. In game two, the Jets struggled to generate offense against strong pitching, leaving runners on base in several innings. Nebraska Kearney took the lead with a solo home run and added insurance later in the game, while Newman was held scoreless in the 2-0 defeat.
Newman then traveled to Alva, Oklahoma, where they split a doubleheader with Northwestern Oklahoma State, falling 8-3 in game one before bouncing back with a 5-4 win in game two. In game one, the Jets fell behind after NWOSU scored late, despite a three-run fifth inning sparked by RBI hits from Audry Rumsey and Laci Dryden. The Rangers added insurance runs to pull away late. In game two, Newman built an early lead behind Lauren McNaught's two-run single and extended it in the fifth inning with timely hitting and aggressive baserunning. Despite a late four-run rally from NWOSU, the Jets held on for the 5-4 victory to close out the series.
