Powers had an outstanding career at KNC in all aspects of his college tenure. Not only a great basketball player, but an excellent student and a great ambassador for the college. The basketball success at KNC in the mid-to-late 70s was due in large part ot Powers, and the 1988-78 team would not have achieved the District 10 championship without his presence. He was the second-leading scorer in program history, behind 2007 HOF inductee Mike Bayer. Powers was also inducted in 2008 as a member of the 77-78 team.
