With 50 starts in the outfield his freshman year, Tyler was selected as the conference Freshman of the Year and was a three-time First Team all-conference outfielder. Bugner was also recognized on All-South Central Region team three times and twice earned All-American nods. He is the lone Jet to All-American twice. His batting average was an impressive .437 with 145 career hits after only 3 seasons. Bugner was drafted by the Colorado Rockies and played professionally for three years. He returned to Newman to complete his degree and assisted coaching the Jets softball team. Â
