Amanda Knabe's senior day goal in the opening minute of play proved to be the difference, as the Newman women's soccer team knocked off Dallas Baptist in a 1-0 decision Saturday afternoon at Wilkins Field. The win secured Newman's first-ever 10-win season as an NCAA Div. II member.

Amanda Knabe, who beat Dallas Baptist (7-10-1, 5-4-1 Heartland) keeper Haley Corbell one-on-one for the first-and-only goal of the game, and it came just 21 seconds into the contest. The Jets took eight more shots in the first half, and limited DBU to just four shots through the opening 45 minutes.

Christina Faridhad her hands full with the Patriots, turning away all six shots on goal, while recording her fifth shutout of the season.
With the win, the Jets end the regular season with a 10-8 record, and finish third in the Heartland Conference with a 6-4 record against conference opponents. The win also secures Newman's first 10-win season as an NCAA Div. II member. Newman's last 10-win season came in 2006, which was Newman's last season as an NAIA institution.
