Men's Soccer Falls to NSU in OT, 1-0

Box Score WICHITA – The Newman men's soccer team fell to 3-6 on the season and remained at 1-1 in Heartland Conference play after losing in overtime to unbeaten Northeastern State Friday night. The Jets forced extra time after tying 0-0 at the end of regulation but Northeastern cashed in after Newman committed a foul near their own goal, creating a free kick opportunity and the winning goal for the Riverhawks.

- Northeastern's Juan Peralta scored the winning goal in the 96th minute on a free kick play near the top of the box.

- Newman goalkeeper Jason Dewey had two saves in the match and slips to 3-5 on the season.

- The Jets put one shot on goal and were out-shot 14-4 in the contest.

- The Riverhawks held a 15-1 corner kick advantage for the game.

- Newman's Nathan Modesto, Matheus Daniel and Walisson Gomes were all issued yellow cards in the match while NSU's Eric Crawford and Neven Vujinovic each received one as well.

- Newman committed one offsides foul and was able to draw five against the Riverhawks.

With the loss the Jets fall to 3-6 on the season and remain at 1-1 in Heartland Conference play. They will return to action Friday Oct. 7th at 7 p.m. against conference foe St. Edwards on Wilkins Field.
