WICHITA- The Newman softball team will look for its first victories of the year on Saturday, when they travel to Arkadelphia, Ark. for a pair of doubleheaders against Ouachita Baptist.
Newman (0-5, 0-0 HC) comes into this weekend's series losers of five-straight games. The Jets last played on Feb. 21 in Weatherford, Okla., when Southwestern Oklahoma State stole two games from Newman, 4-2 and 7-4. Junior

Stephanie Smolsky is leading the Jet pitching staff with a 4.50 ERA in 2.0 innings pitched.
Sarah Fipps has pitched a team-high 19.2 innings, striking out eight batters.
Ouachita Baptist (7-6, 3-1 Great American) is coming off of a strong showing this past weekend, winning three of four games against cross-town rival Henderson State. The Tigers also participated in the South Central Shootout, losing to Central Oklahoma, Northeastern State, and Emporia State.
