WICHITA- The Newman softball team picked up an extra non-conference matchup due to inclement weather postponing two of its games. Pittsburg State has agreed to visit Newman Softball Field for a doubleheader on April 9. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. The Jets split against the Gorillas in Pittsburg, Kan. on March 6, 15-0 and 6-5.

Since splitting with Newman on March 6, Pittsburg State (21-16, 8-0 MIAA) is 15-3, and is winners of 14 straight ball games. The Gorillas are led offensively by Amanda DeCastro and Tiffany Brown. DeCastro and Brown have combined for a .466 batting average, 23 home runs, and 72 runs batted in on the season. The duo is one of nine players that are batting over .300 on the season. Jessica Barnes has led Pitt State on the mound. Barnes possesses a 5-2 record on the season, with a 1.75 ERA. Hilary Erbert leads the Gorillas with 39 strikeouts on the season.
