Box Score 2 SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Newman softball dropped both games of a doubleheader on Friday (March 15) at St. Mary's. The Rattlers won the two games, 10-1 and 6-2. St. Mary's improved to 23-9 (2-0 Heartland Conference), while NU dropped to 3-20 (1-4 Heartland Conference).

The Lady Jets took an early 1-0 lead in game one, scoring one run in the top of the first inning. The advantage didn't hold as the host Rattlers scored runs in the third and fourth inning.
After Audrey Zogelmann reached on a bunt single, she scored on a fielding error by the Rattler centerfielder. The unearned run put NU on top, 1-0.
St. Mary's plated four runs in the third and added six more runs in the fourth for a 10-1 advantage. Three of the four runs in the third were brought in on a double to centerfield.
A three-run home run in the fourth scored half of the Rattlers' fourth inning runs. A RBI double scored one run and an error and passed ball brought in the other two runs in the inning.

In game two, all eight of the game's runs came in the fourth inning. An
Erin Monday RBI single scored the first run of the game, giving the Lady Jets a 1-0 advantage. A second run scored because of a throwing error by the Rattler centerfielder. The Lady Jets were up 2-0 halfway through the fourth inning.
The Rattlers put up six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. A double to left field scored the first three runs for St. Mary's. The next Rattler batter homered to left field to bring in two more runs. A RBI single down the right field line plated the final St. Mary's run for a 6-1 score.
The Lady Jets and Rattlers finished the three-game series tomorrow (March 16) with one game at 12 p.m.
