Men’s Soccer Hosts Southwestern Christian Tonight at 7 p.m.

WICHITA – The Newman men's soccer team plays its last home non-conference match this season, hosting Southwestern Christian tonight (Sept. 25) at 7 p.m. at Wilkins Field. After tonight's contest, NU takes to the road for four-straight matches, including the start of the Heartland Conference Schedule.
 
The Jets are still searching for their first win as they are 0-4-1 on the season. In their last home contest, the Jets tied Oklahoma Christian, 1-1. NU held a 1-0 advantage, but OC scored the equalizer late in the second half for a 1-1 tie. In their most recent contest, NU fell to No. 21-ranked Fort Hays State, 3-0, in Hays, Kan. Adam Sawyer leads the Jets' offense with two goals, and Noel Torres has one goal. Vitor Okamoto and Jordan Saybounkham each have one Jet assist.
 
SCU is 4-2 on the season with wins over Bethel College (4-0), Texas College (4-1), Central Baptist College (4-1) and Mary Hardin-Baylor (1-0). The Eagles two losses are to Tabor College (1-0) and Kansas Wesleyan (2-1). The Eagles are from Bethany, Okla. and compete in the Sooner Athletic Conference of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
 
After tonight's contest, the Jets travel to Midwestern State on Friday (Sept. 27) for a 4 p.m. match against the Mustangs.
