Box Score 2 ALVA, Okla. The Northwestern Oklahoma State Rangers put up six runs in the third inning of each game of a doubleheader to sweep the Newman softball team. The Rangers won game one, 10-0, and took game two, 9-2. The Lady Jets dropped to 13-18 on the season.

NWOSU 10, NU 2

In game one, NWOSU scored runs in the first three innings, including six in the third inning, to pull away for a 10-0 victory. A home run in the first inning made it 1-0. Two RBI singles scored runs in the second inning and a third run scored on an error for a 4-0 NWOSU lead after two innings.

The Rangers scored most of their runs in the six-run third inning. A sac fly started the scoring, and three runs came home on a three-run homer. Two RBI singles plated the final two runs for the 10-0 score.

The Lady Jets managed only two hits in the game.
Lacey Cowan had one hit, and
Kaitlyn Padilla had the second NU hit.

NWOSU's Shelby Anderson threw the two-hitter. She went 5.0 innings and totaled three strikeouts.

The Rangers once again plated six runs in the third inning in game two. NWOSU also scored one run in the first inning and two runs in the fourth inning.

After a run in the first by the Rangers, NU knotted the score at 1-1 with a
Hyedi Viehmann single through the left side.
Jensen Cromer scored on the hit.

In the third inning, NWOSU started the scoring with a single up the middle. A two-run homer plated the next two Ranger runs, and the final three runs scored on a double to right field for a 7-1 score.

Viehmann continued to be hot for NU, knocking out a solo home run in the fourth for a 7-2 score.

NWOSU responded with a homer of their own in the fourth inning and a double scored the final Ranger run for the 9-2 final score.

Viehmann went 2-for-3 with two RBI in the game. Padilla and Cowan also had one hit each.

The Lady Jets are home this weekend for a three-game series with St. Mary's. The series starts on Friday (March 4) with a doubleheader at 2 p.m. at the Newman Softball Field.
