Box Score OKLAHOMA CITY – Newman softball fell, 8-0, to Oklahoma Christian on Friday (April 18) at Tom Heath Field. The Eagles scored five runs in the fifth inning to pull away for the win. The Lady Jets dropped to 15-27and 6-15 in the Heartland Conference.
OC started the scoring with a solo home run in the second inning. The 1-0 score held until the fourth inning when the Eagles added two more runs. Three straight doubles by OC scored two runs for the 3-0 advantage for the home team.
In the fifth inning, the Eagles plated five runs to get the game, 8-0. An error by NU allowed the first run to score in the fifth inning. After that run made it 4-0, the lead grew to 6-0 with a two-RBI single. Another single by OC brought in the next run for a 7-0 score. With the bases loaded, an error allowed a run to score for the 8-0 advantage.
NU totaled only two hits in the game.
Mikayla Medbery went 1-for-1, and
Missy Swanson got the other hit.
The Lady Jets return home for its final two home games on Tuesday. NU takes on Northwestern Oklahoma State in a doubleheader at 3 p.m. at the Newman Softball Field.
