Kelsey Jones was named to the 2015 Heartland Conference Softball All-Tournament Team, announced today (May 2) by the Heartland Conference.
Jones, a senior from Wichita, hit a three-run home run to center field to score the only runs of the game for the Jets in a 6-3 loss to No. 1 seed St. Mary's in the conference tournament. She finished 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run scored in the game against StMU. In the second game of the tournament for NU, Jones finished 1-for-3. The Jets couldn't produce a run, falling 2-0 to No. 2 seed Texas A&M International. Jones went 2-for-6 with three RBI in the tournament.
For the season, Jones hit .298 with six doubles and four home runs. Her 28 RBI led the team. She also had two wins in the circle, finishing with 57 strikeouts in 89 innings.
NU made the Heartland Conference Tournament for the first time since 2011. The Jets finished with the most wins since going to NCAA Division II.
