Jets Finish Prep For Conference Season This Week

WICHITA, Kan. — Wrapping up its tough nonconference slate for the 2016-17 season, the Newman men's basketball team takes one more roadtrip Saturday before coming home for its final game before Heartland Conference action.

The Jets (1-6) head to Northwestern Oklahoma State (2-5) Saturday for an 8 p.m. tipoff, and face Kansas Christian in the second half of a doubleheader Tuesday evening at 7:30 at Fugate Gymnasium.

Newman suffered a tough loss to undefeated No. 14 Washburn on Saturday, and will look to close nonconference play in strong fashion.

The Rangers own wins over Northeastern State and Emporia State this year, but have fallen in close games in all four of their Great American Conference contests thus far, including losses to Southern Arkansas and Arkansas-Monticello last weekend.

NOTES

-Daniel Nwosu leads three Jets scoring in double figures, averaging 14.9 ppg. Included in that is a 19.0 ppg mark on 43.9 percent shooting from the field in the past three games.

-Adrian Motley is putting up 18.2 ppg for the Rangers, and adds 8.2 rpg. He's scored at least 20 in each of his last three games.
