WICHITA, Kan. — Jumping back into Heartland Conference play to kick off a stretch of 10 straight games at home, the Newman softball team hosts Texas A&M International in a three-game series Friday and Saturday at the Newman Softball Field.
SCOUTING NEWMAN
The Jets (8-19, 1-5 Heartland) just wrapped up a doubleheader split with Northwestern Oklahoma State Tuesday afternoon, as Newman's bats took over in the first game on the way to an 8-0 victory. The Rangers answered with a win in the nightcap to split the day. The Jets fell in three games to Oklahoma Christian in their last time in league play, dropping the three by a total of six runs.

The Dustdevils (15-19, 5-4 Heartland) have lost three straight after being swept in a doubleheader against Central Oklahoma Tuesday afternoon, although they had won three of their last five entering those games. TAMIU suffered a three-game sweep at the hands of OC, which enters the weekend undefeated in Heartland play, but has won five of its other six games against league foes, sweeping Rogers State and taking two from Oklahoma Panhandle

-The Dustdevils haven't gotten many breaks so far this season. After a Wednesday doubleheader against Emporia State, they will have played 36 games in 45 days since kicking off the year.
-Mannis is 7-for-12 at the plate over her last four games. She was moved from leadoff to the third spot in the batting order after the first game of that swing, and responded with a run scored and an RBI in each of the first two games after the switch.
