WAUWATOSA, Wis. — The Newman women's bowling team got its 2017-18 season off to a good start this weekend, finishing fourth at the Midwest Collegiate.
Sitting in eighth at the end of the first day, the Jets averaged 196 across 16 baker games on Sunday to shoot up to fourth in the 32-team field. Kelly Machacek paced the team during Saturday's team games, putting up a 206 average to finish ninth in the individual standings. Haley Williams was right behind her with a 200 average to finish 14th.
The Jet men finished 19th out of 40 teams in attendance, averaging 197 in baker games Sunday. Nathan Brantley had an impressive showing, finishing 11th in the individual standings with a 223.5 average across six games.
Newman stays at home this weekend, hosting the Mid-States Championships Saturday and Sunday.
