WICHITA, Kan. – After playing in the first Heartland Conference series of the season this past weekend, the Newman softball team gears up for back-to-back days of nonconference play against William Jewell Thursday on the road and Emporia State Friday at home.
SCOUTING NEWMAN
The Jets (5-21, 1-2 Heartland) traveled down to Laredo, Texas to take on Texas A&M International in the first conference series of the season on Saturday and Sunday. Newman took down the Dustdevils in Game 1 of the series by a score of 5-2 but fell in the next two games to complete the series.

The Cardinals (5-7) are on the road Wednesday in Bolivar, Missouri taking on Southwest Baptist University in a nonconference doubleheader. The last games that William Jewell played came against Newman back on March 4, in Wichita, Kansas, which both teams took a game in the doubleheader.

The Hornets (16-12) hosted two MIAA doubleheaders within last week, one against Missouri Southern State University Thursday and the other against Pittsburg State University Friday. Emporia State took both games against the Lions and split with the Gorillas. The game against Newman is the only action this week for the Hornets.
