WICHITA, Kan. – After hosting a nonconference game on Saturday, the Newman softball team gears up for another nonconference doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at home against Fort Hays State.
 
The Jets (3-18) took on William Jewell Saturday afternoon at home, splitting the doubleheader with the Cardinals. Newman won Game 1 10-4 and also had the most hits so far this season with 15 in one game. William Jewell would go on to win Game 2, 6-2 to complete the day.
 
The Tigers (5-11) played fellow Heartland Conference member Oklahoma Christian in a three-game nonconference series down in Oklahoma City. Fort Hays State was swept in the series that ended Saturday afternoon.
