WICHITA, Kan. — Finding some new life with wins in four of its past six games, the Newman softball team hits the road for its final nonconference action of the season, travelling to Fort Hays State for a 3 p.m. doubleheader Wednesday.

The Jets (13-31) are now in the thick of the postseason race in the Heartland Conference, but first make the return trip to Hays to face the Tigers (13-37). The two teams split a doubleheader March 7 at Newman Softball Field, as Newman walked off with an 8-7 win in extras in the first game before FHSU grabbed a 10-1 win in the nightcap.

Newman is coming off a 2-1 weekend at Roger State, scoring 16 runs in the three games to earn a second straight series win. Fort Hays split a pair of doubleheaders against two of the top teams in the MIAA, going 2-2 against Missouri Western and Northwest Missouri State this weekend.
