WICHITA, Kan. — Helping to power the Newman baseball team to 14 conference wins, the duo of Daniel Jahnke and Paul Rupnik were named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Team, selected by CoSIDA, announced Thursday.
Both earned a spot on the first team in District 6, which includes schools from the Heartland, Lone Star and Rocky Mountain conferences.
Rupnik was a consistent threat at the plate all season, as the junior finished with a .302 average and led the Jets with 39 runs and five home runs. He also posted a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage on 97 chances. An accounting major, he has a 3.96 cumulative GPA.
Jahnke closed his senior campaign on a strong note, upping his average to .273 while knocking in 14 runs and putting up a .419 on-base percentage. A biology major, he has a perfect 4.00 GPA.
The pair takes up two of just 12 spots in District 6, and they both move on with a chance to be named Academic All-American, with those teams announced June 6.
