Newman Softball Schedule 3/9/2020 – 3/15/2020
March. 11 vs. Sterling College at 3:00 and 5:00 P.M.
Mar. 13 at Missouri Southern State at 2:00 and 4:00 P.M.
Mar. 14 at Pittsburg State at 12:00 and 2:00 P.M.
 
WICHITA, Kan. - Newman softball returns to action this week as they host Sterling College on Tuesday.  The Jets will then travel to play Missouri Southern State on Friday and Pittsburg State Saturday.
 
Newman bats are on FIRE
The Jets have seven players with at least a .300 batting average led by Senior infielder Lacey Colvin with a .415 batting average on the season.
 
Veltien continues to roll
Newman pitching continues to improve posting a team ERA of 6.18 led by Sophomore pitcher Anna Veltien with a 3.84 ERA.  Veltien leads the Jets pitching staff with six wins including a 4-3 win this past weekend over Northeastern State.

Sterling
The Warriors are 5-11 on the season after falling to Graceland University 8-0 and 4-1 on Mar. 7^th. 
 
Series History
This will be the third and fourth meetings between Newman and Sterling with the Jets leading the series 2-0.
 
Missouri Southern State
The Lions are 11-9 on the season after going 1-3 over the weekend against Washburn and Emporia State.  The Lions have 6 players hitting above .300 on the season lead by Josie Topfi with a .390 batting average.  As a pitching staff, they are posting a 4.64 ERA led by Abby Atkin with a 3.03 ERA in 64 2/3 innings.  
 
Series History
This will be the third and fourth meetings between Newman and MSSU with the Lions leading the series 2-0.
 
Pittsburg State
The Gorillas are 11-17 on the season after going 2-2 against Washburn and Emporia State over the weekend.  The Gorillas have two batters hitting above .300 led by Mackenzie Goswick at a .370 batting average.  The Gorillas pitching staff has a 5.36 ERA led by Kaylee Burnett at 4.26 ERA. 
 
Series History
This will be the 25^th and 26^th meeting between NU and Pitt State with the Gorillas leading the series 19-5.
