WICHITA, Kan. – The Newman softball team returns to action this week in Oklahoma as they take on Southern Nazarene on Feb. 22, Oklahoma Baptist and #12 Oklahoma Christian on Feb. 23^rd.
 
Newman Bats are on Fire through 6 games.
The Jets have 5 players hitting above .400 this season led by Senior Paige Wallace who has a batting average of .667 and Freshman Anissa Ramos who batting average is .526.
 
Newman Pitching continues to improve so far through 2021
Newman pitching has a team ERA of 5.30.  Freshman Katie Wentworth leads the Jets in ERA with a 1.91 ERA in 2 appearances.

Southern Nazarene
The Crimson Storm are 1-5 on the 2021 season and 0-0 in the GAC.  Southern Nazarene's previous matchup came on Feb 5^th where they would fall to Fort Hays State by a final score of 3-2.  The Crimson Storm have 6 players hitting above .300 on the season led by Peyton Robinson with a .459 batting average.
 
Series History
This will be the ninth meeting between these schools with Southern Nazarene leading the series 5-3 over Newman.
 
Oklahoma Baptist
The Bison are 3-0 on the 2021 season after going the 2020 season 14-10 in the Great American Conference.  Their last matchup came against Fort Hays State where they won 4-0. The Bison have five players hitting over .300 led by Kylie Kawamura hitting .545.

This will be the first ever meeting between these two schools.
 
Oklahoma Christian
The Eagles are 4-0 on the 2021 season with their last outing being a 12-0 defeat of Chadron State. The Eagles have seven batters hitting over .300, led by Kylie Janzen at .700.  The Eagles pitching staff has a team ERA of 1.35 led by Kali Crandall with a 0.47 ERA in 3 appearances including 2 starts.
