WICHITA, Kan. – The Newman softball team is back home this week hosting Northwestern Oklahoma State tomorrow afternoon and Missouri Southern on Friday March 5^th for MIAA conference play.
 
Newman hitting continues to dominate.
The Jets have 5 players hitting above .300 this season led by Senior Paige Wallace who has a batting average of .536 and Sophomore Shanda Cox with a batting average of .444.
 
Newman Pitching looks to bounce back this week
Newman pitching has a team ERA of 7.00.  Freshman Katie Wentworth leads the Jets in ERA with a 5.44 ERA in 3 appearances.

Northwestern Oklahoma State
The Rangers are 5-2 on the 2021 season and 2-1 in the GAC.  Southern Nazarene's previous matchup came on Feb 27^th where they would defeat University of Arkansas at Monticello by a final score of 4-0.  The Rangers have 5 players hitting above .300 on the season led by Hannah Howell with a .500 batting average.  The Rangers have a team ERA of 2.48 led by Hannah Howell with a 0.79 ERA.
 
Series History
This will be the ninth and tenth meeting between these schools with Northwestern Oklahoma State leading the series 5-3 over Newman.
 
Missouri Southern
The Lions are 3-1 on the 2021 season and 0-0 in the MIAA.  The Lions previous matchup came on Feb. 27^th as they defeated Missouri S&T by a final score of 16-8.  The Lions have 9 players hitting above .300 lead by Josie Tofpi with a .571 batting average.  The Lions pitching staff has a team ERA of 3.50 led by Abby Atkin with a 0.58 ERA
 
Series History
This will be the third and fourth meetings between these schools with Missouri Southern leading the series 2-0 over Newman.
