WICHITA, Kan. – The Newman softball team is hits the road this week traveling down to Oklahoma to take on Rogers State on March 10^th and Northeastern State on March 11^th for MIAA Conference play.
 
Newman hitting is crushing it this season.
The Jets have a team batting average of .304 including 6 players hitting above .300 lead by Senior Paige Wallace who has a batting average of .429 and Sophomore Shanda Cox with a batting average of .421.
 
Newman Pitching looking to improve this week on the road
Newman pitching has a team ERA of 6.57.  Freshman Katie Wentworth leads the Jets in ERA with a 4.42 ERA in 4 appearances.

#12 Rogers State
The Hillcats are 6-2 on the 2021 season and 0-0 in the MIAA.  Rogers State's previous matchup came on Mar. 6^th where they defeated Missouri S&T 16-0 and 18-2 both in 5 innings.  The Hillcats have a team batting average of .314 with 8 batters hitting above .300 led by Makayla Bowman with a .520 batting average.  The Hillcats have a team ERA of 2.63 led by Andrea Morales with a 1.42 ERA.
 
Series History
This will be the 25^th and 26^th meetings between these schools with Rogers State leading the series 15-9 over Newman including the series last season in Wichita.
 
Northeastern State
The Riverhawks are 10-4 on the 2021 season and 0-0 in the MIAA.  The Riverhawks previous matchup came on Mar.7^th as they defeated Missouri S&T by a final score of 5-0, and 8-2.  The Riverhawks have a team batting average of .324 with 9 players hitting above .300 lead by Rhomie Bradshaw with a .462 batting average.  The Riverhawks pitching staff has a team ERA of 3.69 led by Jenna Chassie with a 1.72 ERA
 
Series History
This will be the ninth and tenth meetings between these schools with Northeastern State leading the series 7-1 over Newman but the Jets would split last season's matchup in Wichita with a 4-3 victory in game 2 of the doubleheader.
