WICHITA, Kan. – The Newman Jets open a long homestand starting this weekend against the Gorillas of Pittsburg State for MIAA Conference Play with first pitch scheduled for 1:00 PM.
 
Newman hitting looks to regroup after a tough week in Oklahoma last week.
The Jets have a team batting average of .270  with 5 players hitting above .300 led by Emma Eck at .360, Taylor Ullery at .352, Paige Wallace and Anissa Ramos at .340.
 
Newman Pitching looking to regroup against Pittsburg State this week
Newman pitching has a team ERA of 7.27.  Madison DeWitt leads the Jets in ERA with a 6.17 ERA in 9 appearances.

The Gorillas are 6-10 on the 2021 season and 2-0 in the MIAA.  Pittsburg State's previous matchup came on Mar. 16^th where they swept Emporia State 5-0 and 6-3.  The Gorillas have a team batting average of .256 with 3 players hitting above .300 led by Kylee Bohle with a .321 batting average.  The Gorillas have a team ERA of 4.53 led by Hannah Harrison with a 3.00 ERA.
