Schedule Update
This weekend's schedule has made an adjustment, with Friday's game being moved to Saturday at noon followed by a second game at 3 pm. Rain in the area forced the change for Saturday.
Â
Last Time Out
The Jets faced Northwestern Oklahoma State for the second time this season. The Rangers had defeated Newman in a comeback victory, scoring the winning runs in the bottom of the ninth. This time, it would be the Jets giving the Rangers a taste of their own medicine.
The Jets started the game slow offensively not being able to score a run in the first four innings. The Rangers offense started the game hot and it looked like it was going to be a slung party for them, but Calderon made sure that didn't happen.Â
Eli Wohl was a key factor in the Jets offense throughout the whole game. He singled to right field, scoringÂ
Jacob Butash to keep the Jets hopes alive in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Jaret Granger didn't need more than thirteen pitches to get all three Rangers batters out for a quick top of the eighth inning and to give the Jets another opportunity to come back in the game.Â
Â
Andrew Prieve couldn't have been more clutch for the Jets. The Graduate Pitcher stopped the Rangers from scoring in the most crucial moment of the game. He didn't allow a single hit and was able to strike out one of the batters leaving everything up to the Jets hitters.Â
Â
After a single from Wohl, a hit by pitch from Kinneberg and an intentional walk from Schneider,Â
Jack Kiser completed the comeback and clinched the win for the Jets with a single to first base that scoredÂ
Eli Wohl andÂ
Joe Kinneberg, giving Newman a 7-6 win.

Box Score
Â
At The Plate
The Jets had a big weekend in the final two games of the series against Missouri Southern, scoring 15 runs against the #8 Lions.
The Jets out hit the Lions on both days as well, but two close losses decided in the ninth inning soured some of the positives the Jets had in Joplin.
Eli Wohl is now up to thirty hits this season, which leads the team. Wohl also has the most RBIs for Newman this year, with 18 coming from the center fielder in just the first month of the season.
Coach Maus made some adjustments in the batting order in Joplin, and besides the disappointing result paid off.
Trent Trammell was moved into the leadoff spot this weekend and although his batting average slightly went down, still is leading the team with a .369 batting average.
On the Mound
Andrew Prieve earned his second win of the season on Tuesday, coming in relief in the ninth inning. Prieve faced three batters and all three were quickly taken care of on the way to the Jets 7-6 win.
The Enemy Dugout
Central Oklahoma, who had defeated #3 Central Missouri not too long ago, is coming off a roller coaster of the past two weeks. Losing a series 1-2 to Missouri Western and splitting with Oklahoma Baptist, the Bronchos have lost three of their last four and have fallen out of the poll.
They are yet to win a conference series as well, but with the aforementioned win over the Mules and a win against Missouri Western, UCO sits at 2-4 after the first two MIAA series of the season.
The Tuesday Midweek
Beginning on Tuesday, Newman will play the first of three MIAA midweek games against Fort Hays State this season. The two had the MIAA midweek matching with two games in Hays and one in Wichita last season.
This year, it will be two Tuesdays in Wichita and one in Hays.
The Tigers received votes in the Central Region rankings this week, coming in with a 14-6 record and a 2-4 record in the MIAA. The Tigers picked up wins over Missouri Southern and Rogers State in that span. They did defeat Upper Iowa in a doubleheader in their last contests and will host Northeastern State for a three game series before heading to Wichita.

What's Next?
The Jets will hit the road for the next two weeks, heading to Tahlequah to face the RiverHawks.
