Women’s Soccer hits the road to face Pittsburg State and Central Missouri

The Jets will match up against the Gorillas and Jennies this week

Last Time Out
The Jets faced two MIAA opponents last weekend. They first faced Nebraska-Kearney at Wilkins Field. The Jest netted two goals in the contest by Makenzie Shay and Maylani Birckbichler. However, the Lopers were able to net three goals, taking the game 3-2. The Jets then faced Fort Hays State on the road. Hays scored two goals before Delphine Sosu connected to make the score 2-1. However, the Jets couldn't net another, which allowed the Tigers to take the game 2-1. 
 
Scouting the Jets 
- Carla Apodaca leads the Jets in goalkeeper minutes. Through 11 games played, Apodaca has recorded 62 saves. 
- Mackenzie Shay, Maylani Birckbichler, and Delphine Sosu are all coming off of goals from last weekend's games. 
- Six different Jets have netted goals this season.
- Natalia Gonzalez, Allison Hernandez, and Kinsey Logan all have two assists this season. 
 
Behind Enemy Lines
The Gorillas are coming off a 1-1 week. They first beat Emporia State 1-0 on the road. McKenna Robinson scored the sole goal for the Gorillas in the 53rd minute. The Gorillas then traveled to Topeka to face No. 22 Washburn where they dropped the game 3-0. Riley River leads the Gorillas in goals with three. Four Gorillas have two goals each on the season. McKenna Robinson leads the Gorillas with seven assists, adding two goals as well. 
 
The Jennies are currently ranked 25th in Division II. The Jennies are coming off of a tie with Northwest Missouri at 4-4 and a 1-0 loss to Missouri Western, who are ranked No. 20 this week. Ashleigh Martin leads the Jennies with seven goals on the season while adding 3 assists. Two Jennies have four goals this season. Caroline Cole leads the Jennies in assists with four. Two Jennies have added three assists this season. 
 
The Series
The Jets and Gorillas have never matched up before. This is the Gorillas first season with a Women's Soccer program. 
 
The Jets and Jennies have met five times before. The Jennies currently lead the series with a 5-0 record. The last time out, the Jennies took the match 2-0. 
 
Next Up
Newman will host Rogers State on October 25th at 6 PM and Northeastern State on October 27th at 1 PM.
