KANSAS CITY, MO.- The MIAA released its 2025 Baseball Academic Awards. Two Jets earned Scholar Athlete status and 16 earned a spot on the MIAA Honor Roll. Eli Wohl earned Academic Excellence.Â
The prestigious MIAA Academic Excellence Award was achieved by 12 baseball athletes; Eli Wohl was the sole Jet to earn this honor. An MIAA Academic Excellence Award recipient must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of at least 4.00 at the certifying member institution. The honoree also must have at least two terms of grades reported at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.Â
The Scholar Athlete distinction went to 17 baseball athletes. A Scholar-Athlete is an individual that has a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.50 or better at the certifying member institution. They must have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. The student-athlete must also earn All-MIAA honors for the current season. Blake Mitchell and Eli Wohl were the two Jets who earned this distinction.
Wohl earned All-MIAA Honorable Mention. This season he started in 45 games and appeared in 46. Wohl tallied a .333 batting average, 35 runs scored, 58 hits, 12 doubles, two triples, three home runs, and 28 RBIs. In the field, Wohl recorded 141 putouts, with four assists for a .986 fielding percentage.Â
Mitchell earned All-MIAA Honorable Mention for the second season in a row for the Jets. Mitchell started and appeared in 45 games. Mitchell recorded a .316 batting average, 32 runs scored, 55 hits, 14 doubles, nine home runs, and 54 RBIs. In the field, Mitchell tallied 133 put outs with 12 assists for a .987 fielding percentage. Mitchell finished eighth in the MIAA in fielding percentage and ninth in RBIs. This is Mitchell's second year in a row earning All-MIAA status.
In the Academic Honor Roll category, 228 baseball athletes were mentioned, 16 Jets earned this honor. To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll, one must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 or above at the certifying member institution. The individual must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. The athletes who have earned this honor are listed below.
