Box Score TULSA, Okla. - For the second-straight year, the Newman men's soccer team was denied an upset bid at the hands of NCAA Div. 1 foe Oral Roberts. ORU scored a pair of second half goals to hand the Jets a 3-1 loss Sunday evening at the Case Soccer Complex in Tulsa, Okla.

Robin Allard made his first start of the season, and recorded five saves in the match while falling to 0-1 on the season.
-Junior transfer
Amadou Doumbia netted Newman's only goal, dribbling a shot past ORU keeper Nick Potolick after a right-side cross from
Pharouk Hussein in the 34th minute.
-Doumbia was responsible for both of Newman's two shots on goal.
-ORU's game-winning goal came at the hands of Newman's
Chris Vaughn, who was assessed an own goal after losing the ball in the lights on a corner kick. The ball deflected off Vaughn and past Allard to give ORU a 2-1 lead in the 51st minute.

Brandon Carlos launched one of the hardest shots of the night in the 83rd minute, but the ball sailed just high of the cross bar and out of the field of play.
-Doumbia had another look in the 44th minute that was saved.
-Doumbia,
Andre' Braithwaite and
Matt McConnell each finished with three shots in the game, while Carlos and
Walisson Gomes added two shots a piece.
-ORU out-shot the Jets, 16-13, in the match.

Andre' Braithwaite left the game briefly with a knee injury in the second half, but returned to finish the game.
-Six cards (all yellow) were issued in the match. Three were assessed to Newman, while ORU picked up four.
The Jets will return to action Friday, hosting Sterling College in a 7 p.m. contest at Wilkins Field.
