Jordan McGowen (16.7 ppg), TJ Clark (15.7 ppg), and Nick Fox (15.2 ppg) have combined to score 20+ points in 10 of the DBU's first 17 games. Either McGowen, Clark, and Fox have led the Patriots in scoring in all 17 games for DBU.

Last Time Out...
Newman won its fifth-consecutive victory in thrilling fashion, defeating St. Edward's, 90-88, in overtime on Saturday in Austin, Texas. Neither team could find a pace to play at early in Saturday's meeting, until Darrell Traylor converted an old-fashioned three-point play to give the Jets a 10-6 lead at the 17:16 mark. Fans witnessed both teams going on numerous runs during the first half, until Newman found themselves tied at 29-29 with 4:29 left in the period. The Hilltoppers broke the tie with a 5-0 spurt, and took a 38-33 lead with 2:39 on the clock. A Kalub Long lay-up sparked a 9-2 run that lasted the final 2:39 of the half, giving the Jets a 42-40 lead going into intermission.
The Jets opened up the second half on a silent 9-4 run over the first seven minutes of the period, taking a 51-44 lead, following a Connor Walker three-pointer at the 13:00 mark. The Hilltoppers put together a 6-2 run in the next 90 seconds, and pulled within three, 53-50, with 11:30 left to play. A Bobby Wesley lay-up gave the Jets their biggest lead of the game, 77-68, with 1:41 left in regulation. St. Edward's turned to the deep ball to chip away at the Newman lead in the final 90 seconds of the game. The Hilltoppers hit back-to-back three-pointers to pull within 82-77 inside the final 40 seconds of regulation, and took advantage of four missed Jet free-throws, ending the second period on a 5-0 run. A Khaliq Gross lay-up topped off the comeback with two seconds on the clock, forcing overtime with the game tied 82-82.
St. Edward's opened the extra period, hitting two free-throws to take a two-point advantage as overtime began, but Newman responded with five-straight points to take a 87-84 lead at the two-minute mark. A pair of Hilltopper free-throws tied the game at 88-88 with 24 seconds to play, but a Bobby Wesley jumper with five seconds to play gave Newman the 90-88 victory.
Darrell Traylor led the Jets with a career-high 18 points. Traylor was joined in double-figures by Bobby Wesley's 14 point outing. As a team, Newman shot 47.6 percent (30-63) from the field, while holding St. Edward's to 40.6 percent (28-69) shooting from the field.
Player to Watch...
Darrell Traylor: Sometimes overshadowed by the other starters, the junior from Oklahoma City, Okla., has been an efficient force in conference play, averaging 9.2 points per game in Heartland Conference action. The transfer from Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa notched a career-high 18 points on six-for-12 shooting in Saturday's win over St. Edward's.
