Box Score SAN ANTONIO, Texas – After tying the game at 48-48, the Jets couldn't gain the lead, falling 59-54 at St. Mary's on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 9). The Jets dropped to 7-3 in the Heartland Conference, but still tie for the conference lead as Arkansas-Fort Smith fell to TAMIU, 61-60, in double overtime. NU fell to 17-4 overall.
The Jets knotted the game at 48-48 on an
Elhad Emerllahu basket with 3:56 left. Kevin Kotzur of St. Mary's made two quick jumpers to put the Rattlers back in front, 52-48 at the 2:27 mark. Two
Darrell Traylor free throws cut the margin to two at 52-50 with 1:56 remaining. Daryell Taylor of St. Mary's put the game away with a 3 at the 1:24 mark. The triple gave St. Mary's a 55-50 advantage. Traylor knocked down two more free throws for NU, but St. Mary's two free throws with 2 seconds left put them back up by five and sealed the 59-54 final score.
Although the Jets led 22-20 at halftime, the Rattlers erased the advantage 11 seconds into the second half and pushed a lead to as high as nine points, 40-31, at the 10:32 mark on a Kotsur layup.
With the Jets down six at 48-42, NU went on a quick 6-0 run to tie the score at 48-48 with 3:56 left.

Josh Pleasant and
Elhad Emerllahu all made baskets during the run.
In a low scoring first half, Newman opened up a 12-5 lead at the 12:47 mark after a made jumper from
Ryan McCarthy. A quick Rattler run tied the score at 12-12 with 7:46 remaining in the half.
The Jets led by eight points after a 10-2 run.
Ryan Mesh made a layup at the 1:52 mark to put NU up 22-14. St. Mary's closed the half with six straight points for the 22-20 halftime score.
Frankie Drayton was the only Jet in double figures, scoring 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting, and he was 3-of-4 from 3-point range.
Josh Pleasant grabbed a team-high nine rebounds and chipped in eight points. The Jets shot 44.7 percent (21-47) from the field, including 54.5 percent (12-22) in the second half. The Rattlers went 23-of-52 from the field (44.2 percent), including 15-of-27 (55.6 percent) in the second half.
The Jets play their next three games at home. NU welcomes Oklahoma Panhandle State to Fugate Gymnasium on Thursday (Feb. 14) for a 7:30 p.m. tip off.
