HISTORY LESSON

Newman leads the all-time series against LCU since the two became Heartland Conference foes, going 4-3 against the Chaps in seven meetings. The Jets have won three straight in the series dating back to last year, including a tight 77-75 victory Jan. 30 at Fugate Gymnasium.

DBU snagged a 102-81 victory on Jan. 12 in Wichita to tie the all-time series against Newman at 10-10. The Patriots have won five straight, but four of the five have come by single digits.

NOTES

-Newman's "magic number" to clinch a spot in the Heartland Conference postseason is two. Two more wins by the Jets locks up a spot in the top eight, as would two losses by Oklahoma Christian, or any combination of a Jet win and an Eagle loss.

-The Jets could still mathematically finish as high as fourth place in the final standings by winning out and getting some help. Any spot between fifth and eighth is still highly likely.

-The 20 3-pointers against OPSU Saturday wasn't just luck. The Jets lead the Heartland and are 20th in the nation with 10.0 3-pointers per game. Nwosu and Schieber are first and second in the conference in both 3-pointers per game and 3-point shooting percentage.

-DBU has the largest scoring margin in the conference, besting opponents by an average of 13.1 points per game. Helping the Patriots to that number is their team 49.9 shooting percentage, which is just ahead of LCU's 47.1 in the league.
