MIAA announces 2024-25 Newcomer Academic Awards

76 Jets earn Newcomer Academic Awards

KANSAS CITY, Mo.- The MIAA announced its 2024-25 MIAA Newcomer Academic Awards. These awards include the Academic Excellence award recipients, Scholar-Athletes, and the Academic Honor Roll members for MIAA freshman and first-year transfers who competed in an NCAA Division II season during the 2024-25 academic year. 

A total of 1,190 MIAA newcomers earned academic honors. To be eligible for these awards, the athlete must be a true freshman or a first-year transfer who have completed two semesters of school, not including summer terms, at their current MIAA institution. 

The Academic Excellence Award was achieved by 170 MIAA Newcomers. To be eligible for Academic Excellence, the recipient must have a grade point average of 4.00 with at least two terms of grades reported at the certifying memer institution, not including summer terms. 18 Newman student-athletes earned this honor. These athletes are listed below.

75 MIAA newcomers earned Scholar-Athlete status. To qualify as a Scholar-Athlete, an individual must have a grade point average of 3.50 with two terms of grades reported at the certifying institution, excluding summer terms. The athlete must also have received All-MIAA honors to complete Scholar-Athlete status. Three Jets earned Scholar-Athlete status. These athletes are listed below.

1,190 newcomers were named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, the student-athlete must have a GPA of at least a 3.00 with at least two terms completed at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. 76 Jets earned a spot on the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.
