About the Jets...
Newman wraps up its Heartland Conference portion of its schedule this weekend, when the Jets travel to Fort Smith, Ark. for a three-game series at Arkansas-Fort Smith. Newman defeated the Lions two out of three games on March 16-17. Two Jets have pushed their batting averages into the top 10 in the Heartland Conference. Jordan Ollenberger (.371 average) currently ranks fifth, while Ruben Marrero (.355 average) holds the eighth spot. Marrero (6 home runs) and Tyler Hancock (6 home runs) are tied for fourth in the Heartland Conference.

The Jets' pitching staff owns a 4.93 team earned run average on the season. Senior Gage Daniels is currently tied for in the nation in saves (13), and leads the Heartland Conference in appearances (26). 1. St. Mary's (41-8, 31-5 Heartland)- The Rattlers finished up their Heartland Conference schedule last weekend, and have dominated the conference so far this season. St. Mary's swept both series' with the Jets.

2. St. Edward's (33-11, 24-8 Heartland)- The Hilltoppers split with St. Mary's throughout the season, and defeated Newman in four out of six games this season.

3. Newman (26-19, 19-14 Heartland)- The Jets will look to get back on a winning track, after falling in five out of its last six games.

4. Arkansas-Fort Smith (25-19, 17-15 Heartland)- The Lions have won four games against the other Heartland Conference Tournament qualifiers this season.
