The Match-Up
About the Jets...
The Jets will look to rebound from a mid-week loss at Washburn, when the Cameron Aggies visit McCarthy Field on Friday for a four-game series. Newman enters Friday's series opener with a perfect 6-0 record at home, and a 5-6 record on the road. The Jets are averaging 5.4 runs per game, and holding their opponents to just four runs per contest. As a team, Newman is batting .258 with a slugging percentage of .345. After a rough start to open the season, the Jets' pitching staff has lowered their earned run average to 3.97.

Scouting Cameron...
The Aggies plow into the series with an overall record of 12-6. Cameron is coming off of a 15-9 barnburner against Eastern New Mexico. The Aggies' offensive lineup features quite a bit of firepower, featuring five players batting over .300. Brad Blumer has led Cameron thus far in the season, possessing a .448 batting average. Taylor Lyons is over the .400 barrier as well, batting .421 with 10 extra base hits. The Aggies' starting pitching staff has stretched out 63.3 innings thus far in the season. Wade Myatt has been efficient on the mound, possessing a 1.99 ERA, giving up only five earned runs. Clay Vanderlaan is Cameron's power pitcher, striking out a team-high 23 batters in five starts.

Last Time Out...

The Newman baseball team lost a 4-0 lead in two innings, and suffered its first non-conference game of the season in a 10-4 defeat at Washburn on Tuesday afternoon.

Game Notes:
-Tyler Hancock's solo home run in the top of the first gave Newman a 1-0 lead.
-A David Longmore single, combined with a pair of Washburn errors contributed to two more runs in the fourth to give the Jets a 3-0 edge.
-Ben Wagner opened the fifth with a double, and advanced to third following a Tanner Vinson walk and a Terrell Brown bunt single. Longmore's RBI fielder's choice sent home Wagner, and gave Newman a 4-0 advantage.
-Washburn chipped in to the Jets' lead with a run in the fifth, ignited for five runs in the sixth, and closed the game with four more in the eighth, to seal a 10-4 win.

Gage Daniels suffered his first loss of the season, allowing a pair of earned runs on three hits without recording an out in the sixth inning. Starter Anthony Gonzales pitched three shut-out innings, before being replaced by Mikey Lack, who held Washburn to just one run on two hits in two innings of work.

David Longmore led the Jets with a one-for-four afternoon with a run and an RBI.
